Forgets Prefs

Well knorr,
I just bougth the pro version 2.7 and experience this annoying problem, so I don't have the eariler version. I think what's worse is when companies like LimeWire send you to BBS's for support with no other way to contact them when you have a problem like this forgetting prefs thing. It wouldn't be so bad if the LimeWire had representation on this board, but we're left to fend for ourselves. I think I will ask for a refund until they fix the problem.

No refunds

Oh yeah, I forgot. No refunds for LimeWire. So I will say this: LIMEWIRE - GET YOUR ****ING **** TOGETHER AND PROVIDE SOME REAL SUPPORT AND SOFTWARE FIXES! At least monitor this bulletin board and respond, even if it's a lame "we're working on it"!

I found an answer for me!

I was having the pref forgeting problem too, soooo I read all the stuff on the forum. not too much help but I did see something in a post about a dir, that was named the same as the pref file needed to be named, so, I started mucking around in the hidden stuff and I seemed to get it to work, NOW I haven't restarted my machine (an ibook) so it still may forget my settings on restart, but since I usually only put it to sleep it works for now even if i still have to do the wizard only after restarts, which remains to be seen, heres how I did it (Its not my fault if you muck up your own system, try at your own risk)

1. I used a program called tinker tool (can be found at, www.apple.com the osx downloads section, versiontracker.com, tucows.com, etc.) to enable me to see hidden files,
2. I went to ~/library/preferences/.limeware (~ means your home dir)
3. I deleted the limeware.props directory (you may want to move it to say the desktop at first to see if it works on your system)
4. I started up limewire and it created a limeware.props FILE in that location and its been ok since, like I said I haven't restarted my mac yet though

I alls read of someone trying to use limeware for multiple users with this problem, my install is in my home app dir but for multiy user installs I'd guess that you would have to apply this "fix" to each users home library dir, and possably create a .limeware dir in the system library dir. I dunno but its worth trying if you need multiple people to use it, I don't, so once again try it at your own risk, hope this helps someone

btw machine/software
ibook (late 2001) 600mhz 256mb ram
os x 10.1.5
limeware 2.7.3

I just posted this as a bug on http://gui.limewire.org/project/www/bug.html. It took some patience, but I believe the bug has now been registered.

I gave this url as a reference, so if you can, please provide specifics on the problem, your system, etc. For example, are you running multiple users? Did you start on an earlier version of OS X and then upgrade?

I am on OS X 10.2.1, Started on X 10.0. I have had other users set up on this computer but currently am the only one configured.

If anyone reading this thread does NOT encounter this problem, please chime in.

Thanks.

tried it all...

imac 450 mhz...os x 10.2.1...9.2.2

i have tried every solution posted to circumvent the setup wizard problem to no avail...downloaded classic version of 2.7.3 and it too runs setup wizard every time i start up, whether booted into 9.2.2 or in classic...trashed prop file as suggested in another post, but no change...

previous versions of limewire ran well on my machine...very frustrating...

We're looking into this problem now. Apologies to everyone for the frustration.

Are people also experiencing this issue on OS 9.x and below??

Thanks.

I had this problem for saving prefs. on OSX till I discovered that closing windows with the upper left button solve my problem. When I was Quitting Limewire at the menu level it didn't saved prefs. Now I don't have problem because I deleted the version I had (all folder and invisible one in pref) and till that all installer of various version of LimeWire stall at tree quarter of the starting process. Till someone help me I will used other programms like Drumbeat, x-nap or Neo.

I should posted a new beta that *should* fix this problem for OS X users. Let me know if it still gives you issues. You can get the pro download from your pro download page, and you can get the free download from:
