Default Limewire trashing other apps

Guys, I'm having a serious problem with Limewire under Mac OS 10.2.1.

Since the last time I upgraded Limewire, EVERY time I run limewire, it makes both Mail and Internet Explorer think they were just installed. By this I mean that it trashes the preferences file for both applications. The next time those apps are launched, they run through their little wizards asking you to set up some of their default prefs, etc.

This happened right when I upgraded, which scared me off Limewire for a bit. Then after a couple of weeks of not using Limewire, my system seemed to be back to normal; I was able to reset most of my prefs in Mail and IE. So last night I launched Limewire again, and quit it when I was done. Then I needed to open check my e-mail so I launched Mail and it came up saying I didn't have any accounts, would I like to set one up... I then quit Internet Explorer and relaunched it and it came up asking me if I wanted IE to be my default browser and had www.apple.com as the home page (which was not the default home page before launching Limewire).

Has anyone else seen this? Unfortunately I don't remember what version of Limewire I have installed (I think it may be in the 2.6.5 range), clicking on the Limewire icon and doing a Get Info doesn't show Limewire's version number, and for the reasons mentioned above, I don't feel like launching Limewire again to find out what version it is!

I don't know what is causing this, other than I'm pretty sure I had both Mail and IE open when I upgraded Limewire maybe this had something to do with it?

Any suggestions would be helpful!
Sean
