When trying to launch mpg or any movie type file it has recently been trying to load it in itunes! How can i change the settings so that it automatically selects the correct program to run the file, as it had done before.

In the Finder, click on the file, GetInfo (command-i), and you'll see "Open With." CLick the triangle to open up the options to choose the app you want.

Visit WWW.VideoLan.org for a free player that opens almost any MPEG movies. Hope this helps.
