I recently made all of my movie files (avi , mpg ) available for others to download (i had previously always moved most of the ones I downloaded to a separate folder.) Today, my friend was using limewire to download music, and at some point all of the files I had in my library vanished (they were there when my friend began searching.) They are not in the shared folder or in the video folder which I had recently made accessable. The files do not appear to be anywhere on the harddrive --I've done sherlock searches for various files and it comes up with nothing. Here's the thing though: When I show info for Macintosh HD it says I have the same amount of memory that I had before all this happened--so it appears that they are on my harddrive somewhere, or that there's some bug where it still thinks that they are! help, please! Where are my files?

try using sherlock again, with the search set to "everywhere" and the "visibility" set to all.

Otherwise, restart holding down the shift key to run a disk fix ("safe boot mode"), and try sherlock again.
