 1. Repair permissions after a SAFE Reboot, then reboot normally & try again. 2. If still problems, reinstall the "Offline" Standalone Java 1.5 from apple site. ie: Do not use the apple updater online installation. This issue is generally Java related.  |

| Thanks for your quick response. Performed Safe Reboot, then repaired permissions using 'Mac OS X Install Disk 1'. could not find a Java download labled 'Standalone Java 1.5' or any 'Standalone'. Found 'J2SE 5.0 Release 4 (Intel)' at http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...ase4intel.html Downloaded J2SE50Release3.pkg from that URL. But is has a generic icon. Get Info shows 'Open with Installer.app' as expected. Double clicked it but it pops up only momentarily in the dock. LW installer still does the same. Search finds ALL the pkg items on the HD now also show the generic icon. Can't say when that happened. May be unrelated. I fear that there is another Java labled Standa**** that I did not find. What now? |
