Limewire/iTunes xfer issues

I have the same problem. I was able to get some relief through preferences, but it only lasted part of one session.

I think there's just a basic problem.

transfer files from limewire to Itunes

Okay. I have LW 3.8.10, MAC OS 10.3.3 and downloads all show up in iTunes Library immediately upon completion, hundreds of times, except for this 103Meg one. LW Prefs haven't changed but I toggled off & on anyway, tried all 7 of ursula's "how to add"... checked the Get Info on the file & it looks like any other mp3. It sits in my Shared folder but can't add it or a copy to the Library.

Even while I'm moving it all around and copying it and clicking it, other DLs are completing and popping right into iTunes.

What's left to check? I hate to trash this file 'cause it took all day to DL, and a new search doesn't even find it.

It's maybe not a mp3. Solely it looks like a mp3 does not mean it is really a mp3. Files are sometimes named wrong and 103MB are very unusual for a mp3. Try other Players like QuickTime Player, VLC etc.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply!

Yeah... LW, iTunes, and my Mac are all fine so I figured it must be the file. But the giant file SIZE does seem right, as it's a double-record set. ( And it's legal 'cause I have the vinyl;) )

I did find it again, now with 11 hosts, downloaded from 3 so it only took an hour. Had the first one still, and did NOT get the box saying "Overwrite said file?" so I thought maybe the first was bad, but the second one did the same thing-- nothing. LimeWire plays it, but iTunes won't and Quicktime won't. Is there any way to find out what it is? What is VLC?

(And why doesn't my sig file show up?)

VLC is an Audio/Video Player. You can download it at www.videolan.org. An other option is MPlayer. Both Players are quite fault tolerant.

Only an idea, but you could try MP3 Rage (available at www.macupdate.com). Use it to delete the ID3 tags which will maybe adjust some bits. You could also try a MP3 to Whatever (AIFF/WAV) converter (MP3 Rage can do it but I don't know if it's QuickTime based)...
