Lord of the Rings has a distinguished reputation

Just like in OS9 where it was recommended to rebuild the desktop after installing software, similar applies to OSX in that you should repair permissions. Go to your Utilities folder & open Disk Utility to do this. Alternatively, use your mac utility startup disk to do repairs.
