I'm trying to play videos that I downloaded. They downloaded completely, but just at the end Limewire showed "veryifying" something (it flashed so I couldn't see exactly) or "download error." I try to play these movies with VLC, and they start playing for about 2-3 minutes or so and then just stop. I know the whole movie's there, because if I move the scroll I can see the images from later in the movie, but it doesn't play. Can I salvage these movies?

Try playing them in Mplayer. (Mplayer OSX->first result in Google). It has a better codec support and will play files more smoothly.
