What was your previous version of LW? What type of a mac do you have & what specifications?

Edit: wow my posting must be slow! I didn't even see your post when I posted this. The forum's running slow but this is ridiculous.

Send us a pm & specify the version you require. I'll see if I have a recently released version. But please answer my above question.

Thanks lord of the rings for responding

I have an emac os10.3.9 and I don't remember which version of limewire I had before but it didn't have the junk filter on it. I have had limewire for about 6 months and never had any problems until last week when I downloaded limewire 4.10.5. I have tried many of the fixes listed in other threads and am just about to give up on limewire even though I used to love it. I can't work on anything else when limewire is on and that is not good.

Just saw your edited post. Guess the forum is going a little slow:) . As for which version what is the latest version before the junk filter was added? Sorry didn't have my pm turned on will send you a pm now. Thanks.

Turned on my pm in my profile but it still says I can't see pm's. Not sure what to do about that.

I thought it was 4.9.37 but apparently I'm wrong. http://www.limewire.com/english/cont..._history.shtml

Press the FAQ button above. Oh ... prolly I can fix it. But if you desire a personal solution to anything, you need to pm me not vice versa.

Will stick to my original post and stop confusing everybody.:)

LW 4.8.1

Relative newcomer to using the forum...but
I'm experiencing the same problems as deano777 in regards
to LW 4.10.5 and the slow speed and would like to
go back to an earlier version (like 4.8.1). Can anyone
help me out?

Don't use the Aqua Skin.

Hi all

Had the same problem when I downloaded 4.10 . Seemed really slow and the seemed not to display properly !!
Nightmare!! I wanted to go back to my old Limewire but couldn't.. Help

Anyway I deleted everything I could find with 'Lime ' in the title, in desperation, trashed the lot. Re-downloaded and installed direct through Safari as I have had problems with downloads not coming through Safari. Reinstalled and still the same display problems and slow !!

So I tried a different skin and all worked fine !!

Seems like all the other skins available are fine except the Aqua OSX, the one you would use and I think is the default.

Don't use the Aqua Skin.
I do like the Black Skin it's cool...
Try it !!

Would like your feedback
Good Luck

After all that it's the skin! Well done MGarvey. I thought I'd tried everything but never imagined it could be the skin. I'm wondering if it's because the default skin uses the system menu bar and the others have their own embedded menu bar. It should be fairly easy to track down so perhaps we can hope for a fix soon or at least a mention in faqs.

Possible solution to slowdown

I'm aware that another poster was placing a similar message to mine (found here: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...aluminium+skin) on several threads and it got to the point where admin got a bit fed up with finding the same message all over the place. I don't want to fall into the same trap, but the suggestion worked well for me in terms of solving the general system slow down which happens when OsX 10.3.9 users install LW 4.10. Perhaps it warrants a sticky as this theme seems to come up all the time.
Upshot: OsX 10.3.9 users should consider a different skin to the Brushed Aluminium one. See if your system doesn't recover once you change the skin.
It's a painful sacrifice in terms of aesthetics, but a worthwhile one in my humble experience.

Sorry - hadn't seen deano777 and mgarvey's posts. Obviously I'm not the only one it worked for
