It's not a matter of having the update of Java. The point is reinstalling Java. Downld this version, http://www.apple.com/downloads/macos...update142.html
If it won't let you reinstall it, remove ONLY the Java 1.4.2 update x file from the Receipts folder (normally receipt files should not be tampered with!!!) Receipts folder sample image
BTW this topic has been discussed a lot over past couple of years. There's also a sticky thread about it at the top of this section under Stickies to find alternative ideas.
