Default Help W/Connecting

hey guys...So i have an ibook G4 running limewire 10.4 (i believe) and ive never had a problem with it until i recently moved into an apartment complex that provides free internet. its high-speed, and surfing the web works great, but for some reason i cant connect to limewire (xbox live hardly ever works, but I can get a connection from it, if that means anything). any ideas?

*****EDIT*****

there is the little firewall symbol in the bottom left...i could never figure out why because i completely disabled mine, but ive come to find that it means there is a firewall somewhere else, I.E the router... so im assuming the complex im living in has some sort of protection on their network...is there any way I can get around this?

Have a nice friendly conversation with the Landlord & eventually discuss the option with him to open the device up so you can use p2p because you need to use it for your studies. It's prolly some type of router & prolly with its internal NAT firewall. If it supports UPnP then get him to enable it. If not, see if he will open a port for you such as port 6346. BTW with UPnP, any program that understands UPnP can communicate directly with the device & request it to open the port for that period.

BTW there's been other posters on the forums over time with the same issue. Friendly negotiation is probably the best bet!
