With Toast it's easy, open Toast, click video tab, then dvd video & drag & drop the video file onto the main window. Toast will convert it to the appropriate format after you click the burn button.

Need to make sure you click the video format as image shows.

Other things to keep in mind:
1. Burn at minimum speed your DVD burner & the disk supports.
2. Be sure your player supports the dvd format you are using; ie: DVD- or DVD+ or DVD RW
3. Not all players support RW disks. They don't read as well as DVD R disks.
