To aid helpers in solving download/upload problems, LimeWire and Frostwire users must specify whether they are downloading a torrent file or a file from the Gnutella network. Members need to supply these details >>> System details - help us to help you (click on blue link) Moderators There are senior members on the forums who serve as Moderators. These volunteers keep the board organized and moving. Moderators are authorized to: (in order of increasing severity) Move posts to the correct forums. Many times, members post in the wrong forum. These off-topic posts may impede the normal operation of the forum. Edit posts. Moderators will edit posts that are offensive or break any of the House Rules. Delete posts. Posts that cannot be edited to comply with the House Rules will be deleted. Restrict members. This is one of the last punishments before a member is banned. Restrictions may include placing all new posts in a moderation queue or temporarily banning the offender. Ban members. The most severe punishment. Three or more moderators or administrators must agree to the ban for this action to occur. Banning is reserved for very severe offenses and members who, after many warnings, fail to comply with the House Rules. Banning is permanent. Please choose the correct section for your problem. 7. If you see a post in the wrong forum or in violation of the House Rules, please contact a moderator via Private Message or the "Report this post to a moderator" link at the bottom of every post. Please do not respond directly to the member - a moderator will do what is required. 8. Any impersonation of a forum member in any mode of communication is strictly prohibited and will result in banning. 9. Multiple copies of the same post will not be tolerated. Post your question, comment, or complaint only once. There is no need to express yourself more than once. Duplicate posts will be deleted with little or no warning. Keep in mind a forum censor may temporarily automatically hold up your post, if you do not see your post, do not post again, it will be dealt with by a moderator within a reasonable time. Authors of multiple copies of same post may be dealt with by moderators within their discrete judgment at the time which may result in warning or infraction points, depending on severity as adjudged by the moderators online. 10. Posts should have descriptive topics. Vague titles such as "Help!", "Why?", and the like may not get enough attention to the contents. 11. Do not divulge anyone's personal information in the forum, not even your own. This includes e-mail addresses, IP addresses, age, house address, and any other distinguishing information. Don´t use eMail addresses in your nick. Reiterating, do not post your email address in posts. This is for your own protection. 12. Signatures may be used as long as they are not offensive or sexually explicit or used for commercial advertising. Commercial weblinks cannot be used under any circumstances and will result in an immediate ban. 13. Dual accounts are not allowed. Cannot explain this more simply. Attempts to set up dual accounts will most likely result in a banning of all forum accounts. 14. Video links may only be posted after you have a tally of two forum posts. Failure to show that you have read the forum rules may result in forum rules breach infraction points or warnings awarded against you which may later total up to an automatic temporary or permanent ban. Supplying system details is a prerequisite in most cases, particularly with connection or installation issues.  Transferring movies to iTunes I'm having a similar problem to most people who can't get music to iTunes except I can't get movies to iTunes. I tried as many of the music solutions suggested by Lord of the Rings, but none of them work. I have all of the the settings set that he suggested and it still won't work. The best part is that I downloaded a movie approximately 18 hours ago and it worked fine!  I haven't changed anything since then and the file is the same size and format but it refuses to go to iTunes! Why?  |

| iTunes only accepts mpeg 4 format or H.264 format (an advanced mpeg4 format) video files. iTunes will not accept DivX or many other mpeg 4 variations. iTunes will also not accept avi, mpeg 1, or mpeg 2 or other formats. Check the Video specifications here: Apple - iPod classic - Technical Specifications (however iTunes is a little less fussy than iPod.) The format can be confusing because mpeg 1, 2 & 4 all use the .mpg or .mpeg file extension. One reason the file might not import is the video dimensions. Also check the file hasn't actually been added but under a different name, since iTunes sometimes uses the id3 or description tag to name the file within iTunes. | I'm only using .mp4 formats and I'm shooting for 700 MB. I downloaded a second movie to see if it was something with the previous movie itself and the same thing happened. I import it or drag it into iTunes and iTunes goes through all of the motions of importing but nothing happens. I set iTunes to be the standard viewer and shut it down, then double clicked on the movie in the library and it started up but nothing happened. I tried to import from the file menu in iTunes, it found the movie and indicated I could import it, but when I hit Open, nothing happened. What could be wrong? | Open the file in QuickTime player, then presss Command i __ ⌘ i & see what format it says. It may have a sub-format in brackets or something like that. Strangely some of mine in iTunes say Mpeg-1. Have always been confused about that.  |

| LOL That could be part of the problem... Quick Time says it isn't a movie file and refuses to open it!  |

| Then they are obviously not the native mpeg4 or H.264 format videos. More likely they are DivX, Xvid, or other format that your QuickTime doesn't have plug-in codecs for. See http://www.gnutellaforums.com/292880-post4.html & I highly recommend Perian. Though I also have most of the others installed also.  You may need to re-encode the videos to get them onto iTunes, but wait until after you install QT plug ins. Also, don't forget QuickTime Preferences -> Update -> Install. Here's the direct link for you Apple - QuickTime - QuickTime Components Another thing to be aware of with QuickTime is QuickTime Preferences -> Advanced -> MIME settings & making sure the appropriate video & audio codecs are enabled. Edit: I forgot there are some free video conversion tools for MacOSX video, here's one Apple - Downloads - iPod + iTunes - iSquint So if after the above you still can't add or play the videos within iTunes, then you may need to convert the video to make it compatible. Conversions should only be done as a last resort because each time a video is converted it loses quality. And all videos you find on the gnutella network have been previously converted down in size, often dramatically down in size so their quality is nowhere as good as the original. It's not only the video file size that counts with quality; it's the video viewing dimensions, conversion from one file type format to another, quality settings, quality of the conversion tools/codecs used, ... each file type format being a "lossy" format in itself meaning it throws away information in the process of saving into that format, regardless of whether quality settings are set to maximum. | I can't get my downloaded music into ITunes. In the old version this happened automatically. I tried tools  ptions and there is nothing about saving. I also have ITunes as my preference. I'd like the old version back! |

VM can add up quickly if you have a lot of shares & especially a high number of incomplete files; Tip: Purge the Downloads Queue! (click on blue link) You can check your VM via your Activity Monitor found in your Utilities folder. Check it from time to time to see how large your VM is whilst LW is open. After a while you will find it increases because apple's java has some efficiency problems releasing memory. Personally I no longer use auto import to iTunes. I prefer to do it manually so I know for sure the files have been added or not. I check via looking at the Date Added column & arranging the iTunes library by clicking that column heading. Need to re-click it each time you add files to iTunes though, it doesn't update immediately otherwise. Other option is the Recently Added list which is found down the Playlist section.
