Just to follow up, I logged into an ISP that I know blocks teh Gnutella network and, as expected I got no repsonse of any kind from any of the servers (and of course when I tested it with "telnet 64.61.25.171 6346" in the Terminal, I got no response either). Definitely a different problem.
