I'm on a college campus and i do not want to share with everybody in the dorms. Also the penalty of getting caught is not worth it. How do I stop sharing my music. I don't have any of my folders shared or anything, yet it still shares. Please explain clearly.
Thanks, Nate |

The Library shows all the files (shared and unshared). Red files in the Library are not shared, black files are shared.

Could be your partial file sharing. ie: the files that are partially downloaded are being shared back. Likewise a % of your downloads will probably come from others who do not have the complete file but are downloading the same file at the same time. Option under Saving in preferences.

Sharing music files, I'm running a MacBook Pro with the Intel Core, OS v.10.5.4 and v.14.8.1 of LimeWire Pro. I haven't tested all the potential access points in the Mac's OS Network/Sharing functions which might allow your files to be "shared." LimeWire allows a number of sharing options, Network Preferences add more, Sharing Preferences add another layer as does the Accounts Preferences pane. Perhaps someone can say definitively these System Preferences cannot, or do not conflict, confuse or override Limewire's settings but, I find LimeWire quirky in many other ways on a system level. The Sharing Preferences pane alone offers 11 ways others might share your files, view your files, view your current web page, etc. What kind of network are you on? Using Airport? A "macintosh.local" network in your dorm might present easy access for some. I travel alot and am cautious while using hotel WiFi but still spot other guest's machines on the local network often, my own as well. I check and reset my settings but... Last thought-I do think LimeWire has issues, basic issues like saving conventions that work the same way every time and, Directory/Library issues. I am not using the latest update.
