So you took my advice & filtered out CBS, etc. ? And still getting same results? Sounds to me like you do not have any keyword filters. People in different places may get different variations on spam. So need to customise their filter for themselves.

I 'never' do All Types search any more. That only seems to invite spam. As does using more than one search criteria in an audio search. But that's all discussed in the last link I gave you.

Looking at your topic "Bogus search results" & the thread topic, "Incomplete downloads not loading & lost", I don't see much in common.

Filtering is not the problem. Plain and simple. If it was, I would have received these crap search results long before two days ago. Also, as I noted previously, users of FrostWire are receiving the same search results - different P2P program, still Gnutella.

As for the "bad search results" being included in this thread, re-read orneryboy's last paragraph from about 3 weeks ago....

Put it this way, each gnutella program has a search horizon. They cannot search the entire network else each search would take hours. So search results come in from ultrapeers you are connected to & leafs connected to them, and ultrapeers connected to those ultrapeers, & ultrapeers connected to them. So somewhere along that chain are spammers. Sometimes people are connected directly to spammers who are ultrapeers so their spam results are much worse than other times. Sometimes there might not be a spammer within your search horizon. Generally when you connect to the network, the program will refer to previous connections it's had in the past, it keeps a list of them. So this in part can be the reason.

I have suggested to some people at various times, if you are only getting spam results, go to your connections window, remove the ultrapeer you have been connected to for the longest. Removing an ultrapeer can rock the connection so may need to wait a minute or several minutes for connection to stabilize. Then do a search, if still lots of spam, then repeat process.

Spammers have been around for many years, ... since start of century. It's just that they have become much worse, because it's a business for them, they get paid to do it (I think they get bonuses for stopping new releases being downloaded.) And now there's even more businesses, even larger networked computers set up to spam p2p networks such as gnutella.

You obviously have not been around forums much. Most moderators will move posts out of threads that are off-topic. It's just the way forums generally are. Try to keep a single topic to s single topic thread. eg: Sometimes we get members who might post a connection issue to a topic about burning cd's or vice versa. The forums are like a library ... for easy reference. If you could imagine fiction books thrown into a section of non-fiction, etc. at a library

Although I had not use Limewire 4.1.8 in a couple of weeks, it does seem these "spammers" came out of nowhere (new). I will try the block host and even add to my filter list but still wonder why my search query would not appear in the list because it has been three diffferent times of day and random "new releases".

I've gone through periods of not getting search results. One reason suggested to me was if searching the same search term(s) too frequently, the UP's can start to block it (not respond to it.) This usually repairs after a period of time (especially if you have a dynamic ip address.)

Also try doing single search criteria searches. eg: artist or title or album for music, title or ... for video, etc.

Just did the blocking of hosts etc and find out I have to do it for every search I make? They all came back with each search (3). Limewure is becoming too much of a head ache to continue using.

Perhaps you can refine your search terms a little. Changing the way you search, the search criteria can help change results.

Personally, I also browse a lot of hosts if they have similar types of files. This in itself may help lead me to better search results due to ultrapeers they may be indirectly connected to ... broadening the search grid in a way. That's if they're not spam of course. lol
