Default Resource Fork ???

So I've been using Limewire for a while now. On version 2.4.1, OS X 10.1.4, no prob with music files. But most of the .sit files I've d/l lately wont unstuff all the way, stuffit seems to take forever and then I get a resource fork corrupted, use this file with caution warning. N'wha?
Just seems like its been lately, and on some really huge files like Psh*p7. Kinda frustrating after wasting all that bandwidth.
Any suggestions?
