Unhappy Limewire Player

Under FAQ, the following appears:

Q: Is there a LimeWire Player?

A: Yes. LimeWire not only allows you to download files, but there is now a built in LimeWire player with a playlist. To turn off this feature, go to Options under the Tools menu item, press Player and click the feature off.

Okay, I have a mac and don't see this player, please help.

Cool

Hello!

The Mac version of LW does not have a built in player and probably it never will and that is because there is already a superior player that Mac OS 9.X users uses and that is iTunes. When you download a mp3 file and it is completed just highlight that file and click the launch button and it will start playing trough iTunes. The player inside LW is not a function that most user like instead most users preferr to use their own players that do function much better.

This is the reason you didn't include a player? Some of us don't use itunes! (extensions conflict with external cd burner). It would make a lot more sense to just include the player. From what I've seen so far, Limewire is pretty good, but this should be included in future versions.

The number of Mac users who don't use iTunes (even 8.6 with a patch) is miniscule and doesn't warrant a feature that so few would use.

Your mp3's should launch automatically in QuickTime, or you can change the program in the File Exchange control panel to match the player of your choice.

Just drag and drop the files to the open iTunes library window. The files stay where they are (in your shared folder), but you can play them from iTunes or change their tags.
