Wait. Let me get this straight. You are saying that in addition to the Java overhead, one should give LW 64 MB on its own, and further, that LW "requires" this? Roughly 32 times the default preferred amount? This little app. is NOT Photoshop...

This is hardly news: Java on the Mac is a sometime thing, no matter how much memory you throw at it: windows redraw slowly or not at all, they will bleed through other apps. when the Java app. is not active, etc. etc. Freezing was a more serious problem in earlier versions, but the "force resume" button will sometimes cause a complete breakdown, corrupt the dl.dat file, and I can trash all incomplete downloads. Java is error intolerant: if two things try to happen simultaneously -- hardly a rare happening connecting and disconnecting and whatnot -- then danger lurks.

Plus, this application is, I would imagine, being developed by people who only see a Macintosh in an IKEA catalogue. Unfortunately, it's all we have...
