You can get all the previous versions....
...by going to
http://www3.limewire.com/download/ Click on the version folder you want and then click on the MAC version (not the macOX). I successfull re-installed 2.6.5 and am back up and running. Paul

thx for advice on getting around v. 2.7
I'm going to uninstall 2.7 and ytry your 2.6.5 and hopefully will be happy. Thx for taking the time to help us fellow MacItes out.
