I'm running OS 9.1 and Quicktime 6 - but Quicktime is coming back on MPEGs saying that it needs additional software. I've added a load of codecs but it only seems to be a half-assed solution. Does anyone have a better one?

Go to Control Panel, QuickTime Settings, Update Check, and see if there are any updates that you do not have in your system. Hope this helps.
