Default How do I get MP3's into I Tunes?

I can't drag files into I Tunes and when I click them Quicktime plays them. In the older versions I could drag them over but not any more. I know it's gotta be simple but I can't find it.
Thanks for helping,

When I have Quicktime mp3's I put them in one folder, go into iTunes and under 'Advanced' open 'Convert to mp3', then route myself to the mp3's. iTunes will convert them and put them in their own folders. Works every time.

Default set iTunes prefs

G'day from Oz.

I've already posted something like this somewhere else, but here goes.

Your QuickTime preferences are probably set to something like 'Use QuickTime to play internet music.'

You can re-set your files to iTunes using something like File Buddy.

The file type should show as .mp3, and set the file creator to 'hook'. Once you've done this, it will be added to FileBuddys pop-up choices.

The file should then play via iTunes, and be added to it's library. You can move it anywhere. Bit cumbersome though.

To automatically re-set downloads to iTunes, try setting the iTunes prefs to 'play internet tunes' and 'play automatically' (or something like that).

The other way is to drop them on an Applescript droplet which will convert and play them, automatically adding them to the Library.

I can modify one of my own scripts for you if you like.

eMail me at bchristmas@dodo.com.au

Best of luck, & regards

G'day from Oz

Here ya go mate.

Dropping on these is easier.

I've just posted these two levels above your posting as well, so don't bother with them!

Still working on trying to automatically running them though. Bit tricky. I think I know why, but haven't got time.

Pass 'em around.

You'll need to unstuff twice.

Regards

Santa.
