Default How do I share iTunes files?

Are iTunes in a format that can't be used on Limewire? Is there a way to translate them to the correct format?
Running OS9.1 with iTunes 2.0
I have to admit to being really befuddled by the Add a New File process.
The window to do this is very cryptic.
I tried adding a new folder and naming it 'iTunes Music' which is the name of the folder I want to share on my system and it didn't work, seemingly because it's not formatted correctly. Any help will be much appreciated.

Hello!

The easiest way is to create a new folder(In Finder go to file menu and select new folder) that you Renames to Sharedfolder2 and put it on the root level on your HD and not in any subsequent folders.

To create a new shared directory in LimeWire do the following:

In LW select Tools>Options>Sharing

And in the new window that appears select Look in: and select Macintosh HD and then in the list that appears select the newly created folder by highlighting it and then click the select button and the window will close. Then click the apply button then the OK button. Now add all your iTunes music files that you want to share to that new Shared2 folder by dropping them in there or you can drop an entire folder with lots of music all at once.

Now Re-launch LimeWire and the new directory should now also be a shared directory. You may have to click the Refresh button in your Library for the new files to be listed.

Thank you! Your suggestion seems to have worked, but I'm surprised to see how many songs were left off when I dropped my iTunes library into Sharedfolder2. Any idea why? I guess I'll create another new folder to add the missing songs, which are many.
Again, thank you, Joakim.

Hello!

Exactly what do you mean by left off?

One problem that I could think off that would result in the fact that LW would be unable to share all the files whitin a folder are if there are to many subsequent folders(layers). If your music library folder have additional folders inside that could be a problem. Try to only use two layers in depht. LimeWire is supposed to have the ability to register and detect files as shared files as deep as 5 layers(meaning 4 layers deep + the Shared2 folder itself equals 5). But if you have more layers that would cause them to be undetected. So try to keep the shared directory as "ground" as possible.

Another problem is if you have an extremly large library of music. Mac OS 9 allows for about 32000 files whitin a folder but LW might not be so generous try to keep each shared directory under 3000 files.
