Default .dmg files WILL NOT OPEN IN OSX! Error 95

This is a serious problem with LimeWire... or DMG files? After downloading a dmg file... it NEVER opens in OSX... DiskCopy loads then reports "no mountable system files" error 95. I'm not on OS9, so this should work... What is the problem, what is the fix... PLEASE HELP! I'm running 10.2.6, on a flat iMac. please send mail to macdrew@qwest.net if you have an answer, or just leave it here... surely someone has figured this out... or LimeWire needs to not show DMG files in the search findings... this is SOOO Annoying!

hmmm--dmg's work okay here, but did get the same error message with an .img a few days ago. I was suspicious though, because the file seemed too small to be a legitimate .img. Did the .dmg look to be the right size?

[edit--I just did a quick search for "serial .dmg" 688.1 KB and all worked well. ]

I have never had this problem with dmg files, but in OS 9 every time I download an img file, I get the error. I know it was a legit file since 30 people had it. Also I downloaded the same thing, but inside a sit file. So when I opened the sit, I got the img file that I tried to download, and it worked fine.

Default File menu>Get info

Click on to highlight the dmg file then use get info command or pull down file menu>get info or show info, (depends on os10 version). Toggle the triangle for open with. You will see that os9 disk copy is choosen to open dmg files. Somehow it got messed up. To fix this, change it to os10 disk copy(default). Should be in the main os10 Applications>Utilities folder if not shown as another option. Then click the change all button and your dmg files should open and in os10.
