I have just started running limewire pro on an Imac os9.1 but it won't launch files. There is no player option in the tools menu, as it is for osx only, and i don't know how to route it to itunes. help!! i know people on the forum have had similar problems but i can't solve it on my own.

I've also had this problem with LW, so what you should do is play your songs with iTunes. What you need to do is got to preferences->sharing in LW and check which folder is your 'shared' folder. Navigate to that folder and put all the music that you want in your iTunes library inside a new folder. Now open iTunes and select file->add to library. Now choose the folder with all your mp3's and you're good to go.

Kind as I am :-), I went upstairs to my 'old ibook, booted up in OS 9 and downloaded LW. The thing is, when I installed it (even though I chose English) it was in norwegian. So I'm not exactly sure, but under the 'tools' menu choose options (or whatever is the first thing) Voila, the preferences.

Smile thanks sebdude!

i found out how to do it, thanks so much, i've contacted limewire support several times and they've been no help, so i'm pleased to speak to someone who understands the problem. i'm new to this mp3 stuff so i've been going mad trying to solve problems! i don't know how to say thanks in Norwegian!

I'm glad you fixed it klairejay
It kinda sucks that the people who make LW can't fix a bug in the app (probably), and can't even answer people when they want help with it though.
Well I guess that's what the forums are for.

BTW, thanks in norwegian is 'takk'

Default takk!

I created a desktop folder in limewire share directory to put the files in, then added to itunes library. it's working perfect now, hooray, only took me about 3 weeks!

Wow! your are really having your share of difficulties.

May I try to ease the burden?

1st - when you installed LW - you may or may not have told it where to put the files in the right place. Lets assume you did.

To "find" ANYTHING" ON A MAC IS A BREEZE.

Everyone is talking to you about the shared folder.

Okay! Your shared folder in LW should be:

desktop>system folder>preferences>shared(folder)> - find your file

If they are not completely downloaded then you go from the preferences>(folder)>Incomplete

Sometimes, when I install I like to put those two files in the LW folder itself -- your choice.

Nevertheless, if you cannot find what you are looking for. - go to the finder --- Apple(command) "F" your sherlock will search whatever drive you tell it to. Enter the name of the file, folder, anything - if its on your hard drive, it will find it.

Further - on the lower half of the sherlock, it will show you all the folders you need to go through till you can manually pull out the file.

Finally, If you ONLY have iTunes as a player, that will be your default player. You will have QuickTime though that will pay the file for you. Suggest yopu download a Media Player of some sort. i.e. RealPlayer, Destiny Media Player, just to name a few. Place your MP3's in a folder and you can Drag n' Drop till the cows come home.

Good Luck
