Limewire stalling

using limewire 3.4.7 on os 9.2.2 on a g4/400 with 640mb of ram.

every once in a while, usualy when i double click on a file to download it, limewire will comepletely freeze u pthe comptuer for about a minute, then reovered normally. is this a buig or waht? i tried the compression incoming/outgoing settings in both positions. it's done this in the las few versions and is really anoying. is there a simple fix?

Sounds like LW is accessing virtual memory, which can really slow things down. If so, either give LW more memory, or run it with less by downloading fewer files at a time, limiting uploads, minimizing windows, etc.

virtual memory is off. uppign the ram on the app does help a little bit... never used to do this before...

would downgrading to MRJ 2.2.5 help? i'm running 2.2.6, and what about the symantec JITC, should i have that in the MRJ folder or is it crap? (it's v 2.2.6 too)

I shouldn't think it matters, but might, since Apple says ONLY use 2.2.6 if you are set for secure work with Oracle
Quote:

MRJ 2.2.6 is an upgrade to MRJ 2.2.5 which provides fixes that allow Oracle 11i client applications to communicate with Oracle's application servers over HTTPS. It is recommended that you only update to MRJ 2.2.6 if you need to use Oracle 11i client applications over HTTPS and that your Oracle software is properly configured to support HTTPS communication with Mac OS 9 clients
I think the symantec JITC was bundled pre-2.2.5. Perhaps someone who knows Java could get you some better info. This link might be a start http://www.rainwatersoft.com/java4u/...mac/index.html

Did you give the Apple Applet Runner 64 megs too?
