I have an iMac with OS8.6 . I have d/l the newest version of Limewire available for that OS and the newest version of Quicktime. I can search and download find, but when I try to preview the video (mpeg, mpg, mov files only) it does nothing. I click launch and it stays still and continues to d/l. When the file is completed, it verifies content and saves the file as a limewire document, not a mpeg, mov or mpg file, therefore it cannot be opened. Also, we own a newer iMac with OS X with the same version of limewire. It works fine. I dont think it would be Quicktime, and i have heard about CODECS, but don't know much about them. If anyone knows how to fix this or has had this problem, please reply.

Should be able to reset the QT Control Panel prefs or rebuild your desktop file. When the docs are opened by LW, that means the MAc OS Finder has lost track of which app to use.

Ok i am going to mess with the QT control preferences I will see if that works, it anyone has anyother suggestions please tell me. thank you
