Default quick question about burning music

is the music you get on limewire in the mp3 form?

if so does it burn onto a normal blank disc?

and if SO can you only play it on computers and or mps discmans?

Are you sure it's a blank CD? Which mac model do you have & which OS version are you using? Is your cd burner internal/external &//is it one that came with your mac (eg-SuperDrive)? What type of cd is it you put into your drive cd-r/cd-rw?

If you're using OSX, open your System Prefs & open the CD's & DVD's section. Tell me what you have listed/selected there.
There is a chance that particular disk is brummy, have you tried another? To expand on that, sometimes you can purchase blank media that has manuafacturing defects. It's happened to me many times over the years. In fact one time most of an entire box of ten. I got my money back.

music you get through LimeWire (or any p2p program) depends on the file format. mp3 is probably the most common. Use the Library Pane's Explore button in LimeWire to see which kind of file you downloaded.

see the tips here about getting your downloads into iTunes http://www.kapsi.de/files/itunes.html

I think you get that message (and initialization options) if you were in the Finder and inserted a blank disk, or one somebody already used.

'You have inserted a disc containing no volumes that Mac OS X can read - to continue with disc inserted, click Ignore'. That's a tip from this website (click on link.) Same principle. At least you'll find out one way or another when you actually try to burn what the issue might be.

Dare I say it, even the odd top 'brand name' gets it wrong once in a while as for as faulty media.

I'm sure many of us on the forum had 'those experiences' with cheap media. The very 1st brand I tried would show signs of distortion within about 4 mths. I was told the TOC (Table Of Contents) which is the main directory of the disk & tells the cd reader where items can be found, of that brand would start to corrode within 12 mths. That means both audio & data cd's becoming unreadable. That co. was sued & went broke. But they're back on the market with new owners. But this same principle is the same for most el cheapo cd's as the point you made.
