Default I cant upgrade my Quicktime5 to QT 7

Hi there everyone

I presently have Quicktime version 5 which i cannot use as everytime I try to launch a video stream or clip it always says I am lacking some needed software. However I have now downloaded version & from the mac site and I cant even install it as it says the mac does not recognise the format of the file, which is sitting in the download manager fully downloaded at 47mb. Can anyone please help me as I am pretty new to the world of downloading and viewing.

Thanks a lot - respect from James

Default Hello to Hobo concerning Quicktime

Hi Hobo

My mac is an iMac 400 with OSX 10.0.4, however Limewire launches through classic which is I suppose the 9 operating system. I have never had the ability to view things through my Quicktime 5 as it always says I am missing software unavailable on the QT system. However having now downloaded QT7 again it is still unlaunchable, saying the mac cant read this file ????
I have finaly worked out how to download music into my iTunes but not how to download movie/video etc. It downloads but it is unplayable. I have had one movie clip as a mov file play in QT5 but it had no picture or sound, just a white screen ??
Any ideas would be fully appreciated hobo - thanks again - james

hmm .. I'm not sure it's late and I'm tired .. I have to sleep on it lol

It might be worth trying the vlc player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ although I'm not 100% sure it will run on your system, and the early osx and classic are a bit of an unknown quantity to me.

let us know if this helps
