Hhmnn...we had hoped this issues were solved with 1.7, where we fixed an erroneous nslookup we were making that was at least causing some of the freezes. You are not firewalled, is that correct? I strongly suspect the issue has something to do with accepting incoming connections (keep looking at that connections tab!!). This is also strange because most users do not experience these problems (my girlfriend, for example). Are you maintaining a high number of connections? I would put the likelihood at about 50% that the issue has something to do with the networking, particularly connections. Do you get the problem when you're not uploading or downloading files, for example? Also, you could try holding down the control key as you select the LimeWire icon. This will bring up a menu with an "Open" option. On some Mac OSes this will create an output window that will display any error messages returned. Thanks very much for your help. Are others experiencing these problems? We definitely lose track of the forum sometimes, so I'll have a look around at other threads. |
I was using version 1.9 beta and it didn't freeze, but it just dissappeared (mostly when I clicked outside the limewire window) Since Limewire is the best program on mac for p2p downloads (according my humble opinion) I didn't remove it from my system and just reopened it after every crash, but I ended up regretting it big time... I am using OS 9.2.1 and OS X (installed, but not using it ... yet) G4 733 640mb firewalled (router) Jeroen |
Did this same problem occur with older versions of LimeWire (the crash when clicking outside of the window)?? Has anyone tried running it with holding down the control key to get the console window to appear for debugging output? When you try this, you have to keep holding down control until you see the window appear. You also should see files on your system called "err.txt" and "out.txt." They should be in the directory where you installed LimeWire. Can anyone experiencing problems attach these files in an e-mail to me at afisk@limepeer.com? Thanks very much. |
i installed the beta because the previous version crashed, so no improvement to my dissappointment ... i would love to help you out, but you can't blame me not taking the risk anymore of reinstalling ;) hope you can solve it, i'll check here regularly ... i miss limewire already  J |
If you have the err.txt and the out.txt files on your system (in the directory where you installed LimeWire), it would be a great help if you could e-mail them to me at afisk@limepeer.com. Thanks. |
sorry, i deleted the entire directory :( take care |
No problem. I'll do some more rigorous testing on the Mac myself. If others have these files, though, they would be a big help. Thanks. |
RAM TO IT I use 85.4 MB RAM set to Limewire, there is never a crash. To increase RAM single click the closed Limewire application icon, then in the file menu go to Get Info - Memory and manually reset the partition. andy |
MRJ Problem may cause crashes I have been experiencing the same crashes as you all. I have a G4 with 512 mg, and huge amolunts of HD space. I actually stopped using Limewire when I needed to replace all the data on the hard drive and more. However, I think that the problem may be due to incompatibilities in the MRJ files from Apple. I have now disabled the FAXStf files, and hope this solves my problems. I think it will stop the crashes when I click on the menu bars (Apple refers to this specifically.) Check out the Apple support site and get more info on this for yourself. B. |
I just don't understand why lime wire won't install on my period. It keeps on throwing stuff in the trash the a couple of install error boxes come up that say something about java. I have a 350mhz g3 with 320 megs of ram and i run 9.1. I would apprecitate it if i can get an explanation for this so i can run lime wire. |
