I have mac..at times i want to turn off my computer but don't know if someone is in the middle of downloading. There is a 0/0 column and next a hits column. Lots of hits here and there and only a few 1/1 in the other column. what do i do to find out?>

Click on the Monitor tab...you'll be able to see any uploads in progress. Or check the little green arrow pointing up, at the bottom of LW's interface (near the firewall indicator & connection status). If there are uploads in progress, you'll see some numbers there (eg 1 @ 10 KB/s).
