Thank you Lord of the Rings - do I also need to download the browser plug ins?

PS Incidentally on the Video Lan site there is a warning for one of the downloads that it is corrupted!

The Browser plug-ins are optional but might be a good idea if you need to view videos in your browser. For any file you download that shows a corrupt message, I would suggest you re-download it. DON'T use Internet Explorer browser, it cannot handle DMG files.
