brick wall
 

I have the brick wall in front of my globe. I have osx, i have the newest version of java and limewire. I have PUnp enabled. I have plenty of memory and all that stuff. I did the first test you suggested i do and it said that it works, the second one said i still have a firewall up. please help

7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.0
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Local service
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It worked!
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes!!
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? UPnp
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? None
16. What country are you living in? Sometimes there are ISPs with the same name in more than one country (eg Clearwire in the USA & also in Ireland). USA!

Your isp is Frontier right?

OSX does have it's own firewall. Ensure it is either turned off or else, configured to allow full access; OSX Firewall settings for Tiger

I am guessing your DSL connection devices are causing the problem. Most have internal NAT firewalls, so we need to know what brand & models they are. Try checking to see where your connections at back of computer lead to.

yes, i have frontier, i am wireless, and my firewall settings are allowing limewire. any suggestions?

Do you mean wireless from computer to router or wireless from router/modem to your ISP frontier? If wireless to frontier then that makes it complicated. The firewall may be at their end.

If it's just a home wireless set up, then it will be your router/modem that has the firewall. You will need to log into them & enable UPnP. Else if they don't support UPnP then you will need to port forward. I don't know which devices you are using as requested, so I can't help you further. It's not so hard to find the device & find a brand name & model number on it. ;)
