Still Not Working

Have downloaded the new version and the problem still exists. This is my first posting...am not one of the posters above.
In the Options window, the window is cut off on the right side.
Say under the Uploads/Slots window...the window is cut off just to the right of the colons so the inputs are not seen therefore I do not have access to them. The same for every other options window. Looks about 2 inches are cutoff causing zero customization abilities.
I am running 9.1 on a G3 desktop.

Just paid for and downloaded New 2.3.1 LimeWire Pro and it still has problem.

LW 2.3.1 seems to have the same problem as 2.2.4?
As LW developers can't seem to duplicate this error could it be certain Mac OS, CPU speed,
available memory or heaven forbid an "extension" conflict?

I have NO problems with LW1.7 and use it (lately) for almost all of my downloads.

Options Windows are OK with LW 2.1.3 Pro....
my problem with LW 2.1.3 Pro is that the "connect" tab has NEVER worked to reconnect
after I've been disconnected.

I'm using OS 9.1 on a (old) 6360 Performa; 160MHz PowerPC 603e Processor; 80Mg ram;

I have LW 1.7; LW 2.1.3 Pro and LW 2.2.4 Pro installed

Perhaps, we ALL should give the LW developers more info on the systems being used
that have this Options Window problem with LimeWire.

For what it's worth, I've identified the problem and have a workaround. I'll leave it to the developers to fix it properly.

Basically, the format for most of the text in the Options box is taken from the Large System Font setting we each have made in the Appearance control panel. I'm assuming that most of us are using the original standard (Chicago) or one of the sexier new ones like Textile (my choice).

All but one of the choices available produces the overrun problem.

Set your Large System Font to Techno, and everything fits, because it's the skinniest of the choices available. It's also the least attractive from my point of view, but clearly the font of choice for the Mac LimeWire developers.

If the boxes were redone to accomodate the widest of the Large System Fonts (instead of the narrowest), then everything should be cool again.

Do you guys see any less cliping with 2.3.1 than you did with the earlier version?

I made another slight change for 2.3.2 that hopefully will solve it, but, again, I can't be sure given that we still have not been able to reproduce it.

Techno works for me!
LW 2.2.4 "Options Windows" are now useable!

Thank you Charles

Although, Techno is NOT my most favorite font.

Techno no workie

I tried the tecnhno workaround for the screwed options windows. It didn't help at all.

Honestly, I was on the verge of buying pro, when I decided to go and upgrade the freebie version--cursed pop-ups. And Limewire has been annoying ever since. Maybe they should make earlier versions available. Heck, I'd love to DOWNGRADE to a workeable version, even buy it.

A download listing of older versions are linked from the FAQ:

Techno should work

I'm surprised to hear that changing the Large System Font to Techno didn't work for one person, while others have had the same success as I have had.

It's obviously critical that you close Limewire before or just after changing the font, or the change won't take effect until you do close and reopen it. If the Techno font isn't appearing as the primary font within Limewire's Options box, you've obviously screwed up somewhere along the way.

Now that the Techno font (work around) is working for me
to fix the LW Pro "Option Window" problem,

I'm wondering if there are Mac system/users with the newer LW versions
that do NOT have the LW "Option Window" problem?

If so, which versions are you using on which Mac OS?

Or is this a problem for ALL Macs using these versions????????????

Bucklazy March 30th, 2002 03:24 PM

Techno ?!

Guess I will switch to Techno. Now the fellow who figured that out must not be working 90 hours a week. Kudos for your good trouble shooting though. I installed this latest version hoping the bug would be gone. Then came here for help. It seems like this must be a Mac OS 9.x thing. I got it to work fine on win xp today at my moms house.
