Well... there seems to be a pattern here. get rid of Mcafee and it works!

I am a bit concerned, however, that people are more interested in downloading stuff and not about virus protection.

Well.. good luck to everyone!

There is no need to run without Virus protection You can install Avast Antivirus it works fine with Vista and LimeWire. Avast is free and you can get it at the link below. Avast is among the top rated Antiviruses

:bangh: :bangh: :bangh: I am about to go nuts!! I have tryed everything and can not get limewire or 360 share pro to work at all. I have a new computer with Vista premium preinstalled , AMD x64 dual core, AVG free anti virus, I disabled windows defender, reinstalled Java se runtime environment for vista, allowed limewire and 360 share pro through windows firewall. When I click on limewire I get the splash screen then nothing. When I click on 360 share I get nothing at all. Please Help. I'm lost without my limewire!!

Try un-installing all versions of Java and reinstalling Java6 using the offline installer then install LimeWire.

Help!

I tried uninstallin the privacy thing o whatever and limewire still dosnt connect and takes my internet, how can i reinstall the security back on to my comp?

uninstall of McAfee worked for me

:PEACE: :PEACE: :PEACE: :PEACE: :PEACE: :PEACE: :PEACE: :PEACE: :PEACE: :PEACE:

I just wanted to say that the Uninstall of McAfee worked for me! I had a brand new Toshiba Satellite notebook that came with Windows Vista Premium installed and Frostwire wouldn't work at all for me with the same symptoms (blocking / locking down / hijacking the Internet connection). Removing McAfee removes the problem!

I put the fix on my Vista Review site so hopefully we can help others.

Also - to anyone that reads this, I'm trying to log a list of software that no longer works in Windows Vista on my forum, so if you know of any other P2P related file sharing software (or any kind of software) that doesn't work in Windows Vista since you upgraded - please let us know!!

Thanks! The more info we collect, the more people we can help get their software working again - or help decide whether or not to make the crazy jump by upgrading to Vista!

Do I have to remove the whole thing? I've already removed the firewall n the privacy protection n still doesnt work... I really dont want to remove the anti virus, and if I do have to remove the whole thing what r the best alternatives?

Yes, you have to remove the whole thing. Then get a stable and free anti-virus like AVG FREE instead of that McAfee bloated piece of crapl

upperaider February 28th, 2007 08:25 AM

What about the other McAfee features like email and IM protection, file protection, disk scans, and all that other stuff, how do u make up for it?

Grandpa February 28th, 2007 10:12 PM

Most all AV do that

Issue SOLVED!!!!

Three things:

1. Unistall your McAfee Firewall, (Privacy Service and Spamkiller in case you have it) but do not ever unistall McAfee Anti-Virus.

2. Right click on the Desktop>Personalize>Windows Color and Appearance>Select Windows Vista Basic and click OK.

3. Download LimeWire Beta 4.13

Beliveve after this you'll be ready to go.
good luck!!;)

Doesn't support Vista x64 Aero

I've been running Vista for some time with no limewire problems except for not being Aero compatible. I get switched to Windows Basic from Aero every time I start limewire. Running Vista Ultimate x64 2GB Ram AMD 4600+ so it's not a system issue.

birdy March 21st, 2007 02:21 PM

Try the LW 4.13.2 Beta...a few people have said that the Beta versions work with Aero :)

browneyez_36456 January 10th, 2008 10:35 PM

which version of java 6.0 should i get

Lord of the Rings January 10th, 2008 10:40 PM

The "Offline" installer for Java is always the best one to use. The regular online installer which installs over the internet not infrequently results in unreliable & corrupt installations. ie: you will see two options, one is much larger than the other & is perhaps 13.92 MB to download. Choose the large one (it says Offline beside it). After downloading, open it & install. :)

As for which version of Java 6, not sure. I am not a Vista user so can not give advice on the most reliable release so far for Vista. ;) Download Java software from Sun Microsystems

after reading this I uninstalled the last java update and limewire works again thank you so much guys
