Ok guys. I've completely uninstalled all of MacAfee. I've made sure windows firewall isn't blocking limewire. I've even entered exceptions for the gnutella port numbers of my choice. I've tried using several different port numbers. I'm running the current version of Java and limewire still doesn't work. HELP PLEASE

Default Vista, LW, Firewalls

OK, "calm down" does anyone have an answer or suggestion that I could use for this problem....I have Vista and I had Mcafee I have uninstalled Mcafee completely and installed avast.....I still can't get lw to work also i tried to go to the site were it test it won't even open the page and I get a message that says that my windows firewall is configured to allow this connection however thier is a remote firewall that might be blocking it, and if I have access to it then configure it to allow connections through TCP port 6346. Ok I don't know how to do this or how to even start looking where I need to do this. If anyone can help please let me know.

http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ this is were I went to test. It won't even open the page.

Talking Anyone with Vista Problems, please read!!!!

I have been using Vista business for about a year and a half now. I know I've used Limewire on my machine before, but recently, I noticed that that I kept getting the connecting message that alot of you mentioned and it would never connect. I don't use Mcafee, so I knew that wasn't the problem. I use symantec, windows defender and windows firewall. I disabled all of those services(including security center) and I still had the same problem. I downloaded the reccomended java version, still no change. As a matter of fact I tried everything I saw that was applicable to my setup and nothing changed. Then I went to the sticky for people having issues trying to connect and having issues located here:

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...t-connect.html

and tried the very first step, download gnutella.net and delete the old file and put the new file in my folder. As soon as I started limewire I was connected with 4 bars!

Hope this helps!

Rodge

pattycake12345...A couple of things to try...

Firstly go to File (in limewire window) and make sure your connected there, if it is try disconnect and then connect....

If no success try deleting your preference folder...The instructions are in this thread - point 2 onwards...
