Windows Vista?

Can anyone tell me if limewire or any other p2p sharing program is compatible with vista? Or if you know if and when they will be making a version that is compatible....

The Developers are currently working on it, but in the meantime have a look at this thread and Grandpa's suggestions....

I am having lots of problems with limewire and Vista working together. I can't get anything to work. I only have basic limewire, but that has always been all I needed. Can someone please walk me through the steps I need to take to get limewire up and running????

Problem With Lime Wire/vista Need Help Plz

ok heres the deal just like everyone else i try to use the swarm installer and it dosent work so i get the full installer. start up limewire and its kills the internet connection. I was on here last night browsing and out of nowhere it started to work, 5 bars connection and my internet connection was still workin also... so i downloaded a couple songs and went to bed, woke up and limewire lost the connection and the internet connection got reset also. so i browse some more on here. download the java thing, and double checked that my firewall settings were correct, started limewire up and BOOM nothing still no connection nuthin. I hear that its because of mcaffee, does anyone know what it is in mcafee because i dont really want to uninstall it, or what are some other programs that are free that work just as well.?

wondering why February 16th, 2007 03:26 PM

As far as I can tell it was the Privacy Policy...

pftp05 February 16th, 2007 03:33 PM

?

yea lol what is the function of it? do you know.

wondering why February 16th, 2007 03:39 PM

I have no idea, I don't use it....If you look for it in your programs folder you should be able to right click on it and open it up, the privacy policy is probably in there, then you could try unistalling it...
Or better still give the poster of this solution a pm and see what he says...
Or you could google for the policy and see what info you find there...

I have windows Vista and I'm currently having the same problem. I posted a forum about it and was told that it was probably aol.So I was going to try and use my Netscape to see if it would let me download songs but when I did my Netscape wouldn't run. I posted something on their forums and I got the reply that Mcafee sometimes interfers with them too. So I uninstalled my Mcafee...I'm living on the edge.....I'll let you know if this helps me and you could consider it too.Post in a little bit:)

ahh

i unistalled that privacy thing, lime wire still didnt work and now i cant reinstall that back on.

ShyGrlJessie February 16th, 2007 04:13 PM

I didn't uninstall a privacy thing...I don't think I just uninstalled evry program with Mcafee...I don't know the privacy thing...ummm..as for trying to reinstall it have you tried going to your recycling box to see if it's still there? I don't know if that will work or if not my post"Beating a dead****connection problems"Someone gave me a link to other anti-virus protections. Maybe it'll be on there.

ShyGrlJessie February 16th, 2007 04:14 PM

But please don't follow anything I do until I try it b/c I really don't know if it works yet...and I don't want to mess you up b/c I'm getting desperate:)

ShyGrlJessie February 16th, 2007 04:40 PM

ITTTTT WORKED!!!!!! IT WORKED UH HUH OH YEAH....Now that I got that outta my system..I've been trying to get this to work for 3days straight. But anyways here's exactly what I did....I downloaded the Java Jre6 offline and then I deleted the Mcafee anti-virus...all the programs on it...then I launched my browser but here's the weird part..whereas I couldn't get through it through AOL..it worked this time. I minimized my browser went to LW. Launched it..when I typed in my search the box poped up stating"Your search might not work b/c there's no connection...etc"then I hit ok and 2sec. later my search popped up and I'm now actually downloading the song. Maybe this could help anyone having problems

Both Mcafee and Nortan are resource hogs and are too secure. They will block anything and because they are against P2P and torrents. I use Avast which is free and fully Vista compatible. Avast.com

thanks I'll try it.
