Default The ultimate Vista problem (To me).

After carefully reading each thread, I've followed almost every tutorial written by you guys. Here's my problem, though.

I'm running Vista Home with no problems, other than the fact that AIM, Limewire, BitTorrent, and Trillian refuse to connect. I'm only asking for help with Limewire though, seeing how this IS the forum.

I'm at college, so my LAN cable goes directly into the wall without a router nearby. Limewire worked for the first few days of having Vista, back in February sometime (along with the other programs), then stopped.

Any ideas?

The first thought is that your school is blocking p2p programs(most do). Is anyone else on campus able to use LW?

Then if your using Mcafee, you'll need to uninstall it for LW to work. Replace it with AVG free or try what LeeLee80 did: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...fee#post262686

Then d/load and install Java 6, the one called (Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1) using the offline installer http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

Then d/load and install LW using the offline installer: http://www.limewire.com/english/content/download.shtml

My campus does not block p2p. I had a laptop with XP earlier this year that ran Limewire with no issues. My roommates both have XP and also run it with no issues. I'll try this all right now, thank you!

I understand how you feel. I'm running Vista, McAfee, and LW and LimeWire connects when it want to and never does pull up anything when I search. Although, I am able to run all of messenger programs (AIM, Windows Live, and Yahoo!). I don't want to get rid of McAfee because I done that when I was having issues before and they had me remove it and reinstall it. LimeWire worked then. Well, now, it doesn't. I think these programs are starting to get minds of their own...

Yeah I guess I'm screwed.
I don't even have McAfee though.
