Now there are 5 of my personal computers that are running Vista and LimeWire with no problems all different configurations. So just because you are having problems doesn't mean everybody is. (In fact most Are Not)

The one common thing I see on your set up is SATD drives. And I see you are using a Razor Mouse. I do remember a while back some post from people having trouble with LimeWire and having a conflict with there aftermarket mouse.

320 Gig SATA

Using onboard Realtek audio, latest drivers.

Point me to the problem driver, i'll remove it, and watch Limewire open, then close. :PEACE:

haha nice, so yea are you using an AM2 cpu?? otherwise from all of that we dun have any related driver hahaha.

Very Interesting indead i think the whole it's a driver problem went out the window.(not to mention it already did just with my different systems i have). We are probbaly boned until a new version that comes out taht will address our problem, that or Java, ugh guess i'll continue to look for one of those old version.

Hopefully we can get a real answer soon.

edit.

So your saying the SATA controller Driver is causing a problem???

if that was the case wouldn't it cause a problem with everyone(your also foregtting that each one of my systems is using a Different Chipset menaing Differnt Drivers per Sata Controller)

And only 2 of my machines are using the Razor driver so that again isn't consistant.

You also have no Vista Ultimate 32bit.

I was running 32 bit on computer #1 with LimeWire for a while with no problem. And as I have said before I have run every version of LimeWire on Vista since the first Vista beta. Which version of LimeWire are you looking for.

Yes sir, AM2 socket.

2 Gig DDR2 800Mhz

I use, and have always used the default PS2 mouse driver that's installed by Windows. I'm running Vista Business by the way.

Grandpa May 19th, 2007 12:43 AM

I see both of you are using SATA on Vista may be the problem may not be.

errorcauser May 19th, 2007 12:52 AM

I can't freakin believe it, but it is a driver, and i found it. :xeri_ok1ani:

Valus, do you have alcohol 120 installed ?

Azureus closes immeaditely after opening

After reading that again, maybe it's a problem with "AxShlex.dll" ? Grandpa had me steaming mad at drivers, so after removing Alcohol 120 Limewire now works, and I just suspected the virtual drive driver. Maybe not. But I'll sure look into this closer. I've been trying to get this to work forever without luck, until now.

Update:

Reinstalled Alcohol 120, but renamed "AxShlex.dll" to "AxShlex.dll.OLD".
My Limewire is still working. So, I've found what was killing it for me. Working fine now.

Thanks for the info errorcauser it will be helpful in the future.

I assume that's fixed your problem as well Valus, you've signed out and not returned. I want to thank you for even starting this thread, because true enough, I'd gave up on getting Limewire to work. And I want to thank Gandpa for prodding me along. Thanks, to the both of you. :aweof:

haha i found a fix but it was with Java/Limewire

and i had to pick up my wife from a party thats why i logged didn't get bakc home till 4am,

anyways,

what i did was I un-installed JAVA completly from my system and let Limewire install it's version of Java and bam it works.

I then uninstalled Limewire/Java and re-installed Java 6 and limewire again and same issues.

I also found that installing a Torrent Program also correct Limewire and makes it run.

Previously none of my systems had any torrent download program, I Decided to install Bitcomet, and what do you know after installing bitcomet with Limewire/Java 6 install Limewire happens to work(sort of).

I then uninstalled Bitcomet and bam stopd working again.

And i also tested your issue with Alcohol 120, I have the same results as if it weren't instaleld if i run the same test again.

As of right now,

Java 5.03(which Limewire installs) works,

Java 6 with Limewire doens't

If i donwload any version of Java from Java itself it also doesn't work(even the 5.03).

Java 6 with Bitcomet installed Partialy works(2 of my servers work fine with it though)

All have same results with Alchohol 120 installed or not installed.

Now did you install Azureus prior to Limewire working or after it working?

Becaus ei have the impression that there is someting within these programs that correct limewire into working

Also "Azureus does not work when Alcohol is installed"

No no, I've never had Azureus installed. I only posted that link for referencing the bottom two replies on that page. I have however installed Bit Comet at one time or another, but uninstalled it. I do have utorrent installed.

All I know is, I seen what was posted on the page that I posted the link to, and uninstalled Alcohol and nearly fell over in the floor and turned blue when I opened Limewire and it stayed open.

I've been wrestling with it for sometime, and never pinpointed it to Alcohol being the problem. I can tell you that Bit Comet WILL cause a cascading effect running it under Windows XP when you visit the Windows Update page. On the right hand side of your browser window, it'll open the same thing several times when visiting Windows Update making Windows Update useless. It's the BHO that Bit Comet installs, remove it, and Windows Updates works as it should under Windows XP.

Anyway, im sure glad you found some sort of solution. Thanks man !
