haha i found a fix but it was with Java/Limewire

and i had to pick up my wife from a party thats why i logged didn't get bakc home till 4am,

anyways,

what i did was I un-installed JAVA completly from my system and let Limewire install it's version of Java and bam it works.

I then uninstalled Limewire/Java and re-installed Java 6 and limewire again and same issues.

I also found that installing a Torrent Program also correct Limewire and makes it run.

Previously none of my systems had any torrent download program, I Decided to install Bitcomet, and what do you know after installing bitcomet with Limewire/Java 6 install Limewire happens to work(sort of).

I then uninstalled Bitcomet and bam stopd working again.

And i also tested your issue with Alcohol 120, I have the same results as if it weren't instaleld if i run the same test again.

As of right now,

Java 5.03(which Limewire installs) works,

Java 6 with Limewire doens't

If i donwload any version of Java from Java itself it also doesn't work(even the 5.03).

Java 6 with Bitcomet installed Partialy works(2 of my servers work fine with it though)

All have same results with Alchohol 120 installed or not installed.

Now did you install Azureus prior to Limewire working or after it working?

Becaus ei have the impression that there is someting within these programs that correct limewire into working

Also "Azureus does not work when Alcohol is installed"

No no, I've never had Azureus installed. I only posted that link for referencing the bottom two replies on that page. I have however installed Bit Comet at one time or another, but uninstalled it. I do have utorrent installed.

All I know is, I seen what was posted on the page that I posted the link to, and uninstalled Alcohol and nearly fell over in the floor and turned blue when I opened Limewire and it stayed open.

I've been wrestling with it for sometime, and never pinpointed it to Alcohol being the problem. I can tell you that Bit Comet WILL cause a cascading effect running it under Windows XP when you visit the Windows Update page. On the right hand side of your browser window, it'll open the same thing several times when visiting Windows Update making Windows Update useless. It's the BHO that Bit Comet installs, remove it, and Windows Updates works as it should under Windows XP.

Anyway, im sure glad you found some sort of solution. Thanks man !

I registered only for this purpose. I got the exact same error, on XP on 2 systems, with SATA in one and IDE in another, intel cpus.

Both LimeWire and FrostWire crashed right after the loading screen. Literally after reading this, I tried running it, it failed, I renamed AxShlex.dll, re-ran it and it worked. That is precisely what it is, though I have NO idea why the hell that would do it, especially since the .dll wasn't even in use at the time. Anyway, thanks for finding the fix You've caused me much relief, this was seriously getting on my nerves. Now let's hope Alcohol 120% still runs, though Daemon Tools will suffice for now if it doesn't.

Default OMFG it works...

i renamed AxShlex.dll located in the alcohol program folder...and now limewire starts and runs fine...

but now "mount image" is gone from the context menu on my virtual drive...but alcohol itself still seems to start and run OK, havent tryed to burn anything with this DLL missing yet..

as soon as i name the file back to normal...i can mount/unmount ISOs again...but limewire phucks up immediately after starting again...

IDK WTF is going on but renaming this file (or maybe just moving it will work the same way) is easer than uninstalling alcohol every time i want to download something...

Agreed, make a batch file to replace the shortcut to LimeWire that renames it then one to name it back and we'll be at 90% smoothness of having it work as it should
