Default No connections in Limewire

I tried searching as many threads as I could til I feel cross-eyed, so I'm giving up and posting this in hopes that someone might be able to help...

1. OS version? Windows Vista Home Premium
2. What firewalls you have? PC Tools Firewall Plus
3. How much ram? 1Gig
4. Hard Disk space available? Over 250 gigs
5. Connection type? broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Not Sure
7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire: 4.12.11 (basic) & Java: 1.6.0_01
9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Time Warner
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? It says "Your Test Worked!!"
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Four other computers on network sharing an internet connection using a router. 2 other computers are running p2p and have no problems so I don't think the router or set-up is the issue. (Limewire and Ares are being used on the other computers)
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I have used Limewire on a previous computer and it worked fine, but I got a new system and just can't get it to work. I've googled the problem, searched the forums and am completley lost.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes the brick wall is there.
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? Don't know, but p2p (Limewire, Ares) work from other computers on this same network
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? Some people might not be aware that their security suite includes a firewall.. AVG Free Edition, SpywareGuard, Spybot S&D Resident shield. This is the same set-up that is on the other computer running Limewire and it works fine.

I'm thinking maybe it's the specific model of the computer I'm using. When I try to connect nothing shows up in the box under the connections tab. I've got a HP Pavilion m7750n. I am able to get utorrent running on this computer, so I'm even more confused.

In going through the threads, I tried many of the advised fixes. I closed down limewire and deleted the limewire folder under my user account, i disabled the tips on startup, i disabled the connect on startup and tried to manually connect. I tried to manually enter the 4 or 5 host addresses that were listed in another thread, they only showed up in the connections window for under 10 seconds, then just disappeared. I have un-installed and re-installed limewire a number of times. Right now I have just tried to connect again and still nothing shows up in the connections window and it stays on one green bar.

I hope I've given enough information so that someone can maybe figure out what the problem is. I'd greatly appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!!

Click on Start > Control Panel > Security Center > Windows Firewall > Allow a program Through Windows Firewall in the pop-up window look and see if LimeWire is listed and has a check mark in the box. If it is and there is a check mark in the box then highlight it and delete it.

Mack sure there is a check mark in the box at the bottom of the page where it says (Notify me when windows firewall blocks a new program) Now start LimeWire The windows firewall alert should pop up and ask if it should allow LimeWire access click on allow.

If it is and there is not a check mark in the box then put a check mark in the box and start LimeWire.

Thank you for the advice... Windows Firewall is disabled, I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear in the previous post. I am using PC Tools Firewall Plus and have set it up to allow limewire. I know that the settings on the firewall are correct because the Toshiba on this same network is also running PC Tools Firewall Plus and is allowing limewire to run with no problems. I double checked that Windows Firewall is off, but even so, limewire was already checked off as an exception, so that isn't the problem. Any other suggestions?

There are a few things that will block LimeWire, Your Firewall, The firewall in your modem or router if it has one, your ISP And some Spyware detectors have been known to disable LimeWire.

If you are sure your firewall is set up correctly then it has to be 1 of the other 3 I do not remember ever seeing anything about Time Warner blocking P2P so that either leaves your Modem/Router or your anti spyware.

Unfortunately I do not know what your Mode/Router or your spyware is (if any) If you could provide that info we may be able to help.
