Default Connection Problem

I can connect to the server but not the files themselves...But the world has a brickwall on it. I disable my firewall (for a second) and it was still there. And when I try to download files it just sits at "Connecting to host/file?".
OS Version - Vista Ultimate
Firewall - OS firewall..Disabling after this new one finishes download.
Ram - 2046 MB
Hard Disk space available - 105 gig
Connection type - DSL
Modem & router brand name & model numbers - Belkin N..I think..
Connecting from home
Running Limewire pro 4.12.11 dunno how to check Java.
Isp is Time Warner?
The page did say 'Your test worked!'.
I am sharing the home connection with two other computers.
I have used Limewire before with no problems. Until I got this new laptop with Vista.
I do see the brick wall over the blue icon
I use AVG FREE antivirus
I live in America

If your LW's connection to the network is ok (ie all green bars), & it's the files themselves that won't connect...you might be seeing fake files. These will sit connecting for ages & then get stuck at 'need more sources' forever. Is that what you see?

If it is, check out the threads below for more info & tips.

How to find music (tips for movies as well)

There might be a firewall within your router. If you can tell us the model number of your Belkin, we can probably give you instructions for port forwarding. Or, have a look at the router list below. Find your router, choose LW from the list of programs & follow the instructions from there.
PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall

Don't forget the step of setting up a static IP address, if that's in the instructions. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number

You won't see a .limewire folder unless you've used much older versions of LW in the past, on your computer. The .limewire folder is the old location of the preferences folder. Please read point 3 here for the new location.
