I tried the windows NT and 2000 thing. Windows just tells me it experienced an error and had to close limewire and is checking for a solution and so on. Hey i dont know how closely you work with the developers but are they working on a fix or a new release of some kind? And brisbane's a nice place I pass through there on occassion. |
Glad that I haven't stepped into this nice conversation at an earlier stage........guess I would have had to borrow the buttered broomstick of our fellow friend Peerless.........well, never mind... Here is my 5-cent-worth... Sometimes one has to do a real hardcore clean cut (i.e. uninstall) of limewire due to some registry conflicts (as I have already experienced). So, my suggestion would be: LimeWire uninstall via START>Program>LimeWire>Uninstall Then restart of the computer followed by a search of all remaining folders (including the Preference Folder& the Complete/Incomplete Folder) via START>Search for Files and Folders using the search query " limewire " Then one should go to START>Run and type " regedit ". In the opening window one should use the search for all registry entries referring to LimeWire by using the same search query. Afterwards a restart of the computer is advisable..... Next step would be to uninstall Java (all present versions) via START>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs. Another restart after that is required. From that point on one should have the off-line installer of both LW and the desired Java version as JRE (5.11 would be fine I guess) handy. Firstly install the Java in safe mode and restart the computer. Secondly install LW also in safe mode and restart again... Cheers FOTH :Smilywais: |
Uninstall all versions of Java 6. (Any version of Java 5 is fine, it seems). THIS IS THE PROBLEM. And we just have to wait until the developers come out with a solution. |

I see nothing wrong with the image shown, is that your linux version? Other than sharing zero files I see nothing abnormal off-hand. BTW don't use same port to connect as any other computers or your linux LW else your router will probably block it out. I'd recommend setting up a test account, a virgin account that has never been used before. Then try using LW in that one. |
so long and thanks for all the fish. well i guess that's giving up till next version. :shoot: all links will now be obsolete. |
somethin odd something extremely odd happened about a month ago. so i was doi LIMEWIRE STARTED for no apperent reason. i had no clue what had happened in the last 2 weeks i hadn't tryed to open it. i erased vista and installed it again since i had to change my motherboard because it went a bust. and now i cant start it. ima gonna try to do what the roxio representative told me to do once. start vista in diagnostic mode. tell you if a iget any good results. |
