major firewall problems
 
ok iv used limewire on other computers with xp, but now iv got vista and everytime i open limewire i cant get rid of the detecting firewall logo

iv disabled windows firwall, iv disabled my routers firewall, iv re-installed limewire, i dont know wat else to do

here are my specs and any advice would be greatly appreiciated:aweof:

3.How much ram? 2046 MB
4. Hard Disk space available? 217 GB free of 288 GB
5. Connection type? broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Thomsom SpeedTouch ST585
7. Where are you trying to connect from? house
8.What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? Limewire 4.9.37 Pro, Java 1.6.0-oem
9. Who is your ISP? Pipex
10. What happens when you go there? Your Test Worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? no
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user? New problem with an experienced user
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? YES
14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? my router is connected to the comp. via an ethernet cable and the dsl cable is connected to a filter which is connected to a phone extension cable directly to the phone socket. UPnP is enabled.
15. What security programs are you using (antivirus etc)? none
16. What country are you living in? Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

Is LW connected at all (any green bars)? Rather than turning off your firewall, make sure that it's configured to allow LW;)

Try port forwarding for your SpeedTouch, the instructions are here.

Make sure to set up a static IP address first, or port forwarding won't work. LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router should all be the same number.

Try this version of Java. Download the JRE offline installer & remove your current Java version(s) before you install this one.

thx very much for the help but havin a problem settin up a static ip adress
at the very end it asked me to fill in to an alternative dns and i only had 2. where do u get the alternative one from or does it matter

and yes i get a turbo charged connection, but the firewall is causin it to hardly show any results and the download speeds r very slow
