I also a Thomson SpeedTouch 585(v6) modem router but I still use XP as my O/S.

However, I have just one question, have you updated your modem's firmware from V6.1 to 6.2? Although I am not 100% certain, but this "update" may help you with your Vista/Limewire problem.
