Connection problems....help....I've tried everything 1. OS version? Vista 2. What firewalls you have?Norton 3. How much ram?Not sure 4. Hard Disk space available?plenty 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)Cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?Motorola, SBV5220 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?Apartment Complex 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. Limewire 4.14.10Pro, Java 1.6.0_03 9. Who is your ISP (Internet Service Provider)? Time Warner Cable 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Said your test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. no 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Been using LW for about a month 13. Try deleting your preference folder/s...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...;) Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista |
help..... I've have tried deleting the limewire folder and have given limewire permission through Norton 360 for firewall, but I still can not connect. |
Try going to your Connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it... Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more... (try to take note of the hosts IP numbers if the same ones keep re-appearing add them to your host filter...) ;) Tools > Options > Filters and select the Host Filter and add these IP's into it and select apply... pulled up the connections tab but there were no hosts listed. how do you get lw to look for more hosts? |

novella7311 this is the Vista section, your best to copy and paste your information and start your own thread in the connection problems section of the forum...Cheers.. Sorry nascarjr88fan I mixed you up with another connection problem... Try right-clicking the Limewire icon and going to properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version. Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!) |
that did not work either....this is getting so aggrevating. I did not have any issues until yesterday. |
Have you tried disabling Norton and seeing if that helps ?? |
I just turned off the firewall protection in Norton 360 and started LW, but it still is still saying starting connection.... |
