help lime wire wont download on my vista (connecting to the network)

i just got a hp pavilion with windows vista home basic and i downloaded limewire but when i go to down load songs it says lime wire is trying to connect to the internet i tryed downloading rocket and share bear i took off macafee and turned off my fire walls and i still have no bars any one that can help me out there
