Multiple User Connection Issues

I have Vista Home Premium with three user profiles set up. Limewire works great on the Administrator profile, but I can't get it to connect with the other users. The program starts up fine, and seems to be running okay, but I can get zero connectivity on anything other than the Administrator user profile.

Vista Home Premium
Dell Inspiron
AMD 64 Athlon X2
1 GHz RAM
32 Bit OS
Macafee Virus Scan
Windows Firewall

I've set the users to full program permissions, so they can access any programs that have been installed on the computer.

I do not have a .limewire folder in my AppData/Roaming directory on any profile.

The port settings are to Gnutella/Limewire recommendations.

I have Download from CD enabled in Internet Options, along with granting security access to the Limewire program in all profiles.

I'm using Limewire version 4.14.12 Java 1.6.0-OEM.

Any help would be appreciated. I've been searching these forums in particular and Google in general and cannot find a solution to the problem. I really enjoy Limewire, and it's helped me out a LOT. Thanks in advance!

I hate to bump, but I still haven't been able to find a resolution for this issue. Thanks again!

I'm not a Vista user, so apologies if this advice doesn't work:o

Try right clicking on the LW desktop icons of the other 2 accounts > run as administrator.

Or have a look at the thread below & see what this Vista user did (even though their problem was slightly different to yours).

Also, make sure that all accounts are using different port numbers in LW. To check/change port numbers, in LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. You can change LW's listening port on that page, just click apply > ok to save a change.

Unless you've used really old versions of LW in the past, you won't have a preferences folder named .limewire. The folder changed location in LW version 4.9.34. For newer versions, the folder's named LimeWire & should be located in C:\Users\your username\AppData\Roaming\LimeWire:)

Here's what finally fixed it:

- Uninstalled Limewire
- Changed the user accounts to Administrator
- Reinstalled Limewire
- Set up in each account
- Removed Administrator from the other accounts

It's worked like a charm ever since. I'm REALLY pleased about this because I adore Limewire. Thanks for all the help!

That's good to hear:)

It's great that UPEngineer's advice (thread linked to in post #2) worked for you...hopefully it will help other Vista users as well!
