How to tell which Java version

I downloaded and installed LimeWare Pro, which installed 1.3.x of Java. I then followed the advice on the page and installed 1.4.x of Java for a performance boost.

Can I "uninstall" 1.3, or does 1.4 sit on top of it? Also, how can I tell from within LimeWire which version of Java it's using?

performance boost?

Hi. I'm curious where did you see that option? I just downloaded Limewire a few days ago and didn't see an option for an updated Java plug in. And if anything needs a performance boost, it's Limewire. Let me know if it helped. Thanks, Joe

There should be a Java Icon in your control panel (if you have Sun Java). You can find your version there.

I don't know how to tell this from Limewire though.

I'd also be interested in knowing this. I'm currently downloading 2.3.3 PRO and on the download site there is the option to download the Java "performance enhancement" aka JRE 1.4 and it states to download it after I install limewire. Will downloading 1.4 make Limewire automatically use it and can I uninstall 1.3.1 after installing the 1.4?
