how do u put files onto a mp3 player??

I always sort files and gererally mess about with them on my HD, when LW isn't running.

I use MusicMatch, everyone has their favourite

You can just drag the file(s) into the player window.

Or you can go File>Add new tracks to music library.

You can add whole folders of or just a file.

I think most of the players have similar ways in which to do this.
